FA Charges Mikel Arteta

FA charges Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta over post-match comments criticizing officials after Anthony Gordon's controversial second-half winner for Newcastle, despite a lengthy VAR check. The audio of the VAR check has been made public by PGMOL.

The FA released a statement on Thursday regarding Arteta's comments.

Mikel Arteta has until November 21 to respond to the FA charges.

Despite Arsenal initially backing Arteta's comments, it remains to be seen what punishment will be handed out.

The Arsenal manager could face a touchline ban and a fine for his post-match rant criticizing officials.

The FA's statement read: Mikel Arteta has been charged with a breach of FA rule E3.1 following comments that he made in media interviews after Arsenal's Premier League game against Newcastle United on Saturday 4 November.

It's alleged that his comments constitute misconduct as they are insulting towards match officials and/or detrimental to the game and/or bring the game into disrepute.

Mikel Arteta has until Tuesday 21 November to provide a response to the charge.  Arsenal's players are currently on international duty and are set to face Brentford on November 25th.
